It spans several districts in the state of Kerala. It is also known as Punnamada Lake in Kuttanad and Kochi Lake in Kochi. Chinese Fishing Nets are a common attraction in tourist locations. These nets are fixed land installations used for fishing, Each structure is at least 10 m high and comprises a cantilever with an outstretched net suspended over the sea or lake and large stones suspended from ropes as counterweights at the other end. Each installation is operated by a team of up to six fishermen. These fishing nets are commonly used in coastal Southern China.
